We love to help your holiday get off to the right start from the moment you you’re your booking, we want it to be seamless and hassle-free. Here’s our thoughts to help you have the best holiday!
Before diving into your packing list, make sure you have the basics sorted. Here’s what you absolutely cannot forget:
Passport: Check the expiry date on all the family’s passports and if travelling with friends, remind them too! All passports need a minimum validity of six months from your planned return date – so beware and if you need a new passport order it with plenty of time as many countries have a backlog on some of these services.
Travel Insurance: Yes, you absolutely need it! It's crucial for a worry-free trip and make it comprehensive travel insurance to ensure medical and dental support is included.
Printed Copies of Travel Documents: Bring printed copies of your plane tickets and accommodation details as you will need to fill these details in on your arrival documentation and it helps keep your travels simple and organised and data roaming is expensive. You can read our separate article on phone and data roaming here
What to Consider When Packing
Vanuatu boasts a warm, sunny climate year-round, making it a perfect resort destination. To simplify your packing, consider these questions:
Donations/Gifts: Are you bringing any gifts or donations? We love to help our guests connect with local communities, so your contributions are always appreciated and often you have room in your luggage with the generous allocation per person on the flight, so why not maximise this space! You can read our separate article The Joy of Giving Back and some examples include:
School Supplies: Pens, pencils, erasers, and more.
Books: Picture and educational books are always in demand.
How light do you want to travel & laundry services available: At Nakatumble, we offer complimentary daily laundry services, meaning you don’t need to pack excessively. In fact, some guests travel light with just carry-on luggage, even for stays longer than a week!
Traveling with Kids: If you are packing for children, there's no need to pack baby items except for bottles, special toys, and diapers. At Nakatumble we know kids can be messy, so we’ll take care of their laundry! Plus, our complimentary kids' pack includes cots, a stroller, blankets, books, toys, and play mats—making it easy for you to travel lighter!
And don’t worry about a first aid kit—we have what you need on-site, but you’re welcome to bring your own if you prefer.
Activities and Entertainment
Reading Material: Bring a good book or enjoy our guest library. This might be the perfect chance to unwind with that novel you’ve been meaning to read.
Drones: If you love using a drone, you’ll need a license in Vanuatu. Fortunately, when you stay with us, our license covers you for use at Nakatumble.
What to Pack (Beyond the Basics)
Here’s a quick list of what to include in your suitcase:
Casual Footwear: A pair of slides or flip-flops is essential.
Swimwear: Don’t forget your bathing suits!
Lightweight Clothing: Think cotton or linen tops and shorts for comfort.
Reef-Safe Sunscreen: If carrying in hand luggage, ensure it’s under 100ml. We also recommend after sun lotion, which we can store in the fridge for you for that refreshing application!
Toiletries: Bring non-battery-operated items like a toothbrush & deodorant (under 100ml), and other essentials.
Camera: An underwater camera is a great idea to capture the vibrant marine life!
Devices: Bring a laptop or iPad only if you need to work; otherwise, embrace relaxation!
Chargers: Vanuatu uses the same plugs as Australia and New Zealand, but remember to think about chargers for your phone, computers, camera equipment, baby bottle warmers (if relevant) and any other electronic devices that need charging.
Hat: A wide-brimmed hat is essential for sun protection.
Sunglasses: Polarized sunglasses will help you see clearly while enjoying the scenery.
Daypack: A backpack is useful for carrying towels, sunscreen, and other essentials on day trips.
Mosquito Repellent: Protect yourself from bites, especially during certain times of the year! While Nakatumble maintains a mosquito-free environment through diligent cleaning and maintenance, you might encounter them during off-site activities. It's always wise to be prepared!
Snorkelling Gear: We provide masks, snorkels and some booties for our in-house guests, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer.
Relax and Enjoy
At the end of the day, let the salty air bring out those beachy curls and embrace a natural look for a truly relaxing getaway. If you choose to bring makeup, keep in mind that the heat may make it less enjoyable to wear, and with Nakatumble’s laid-back vibe, you might just forget about it altogether!
With these tips in mind, you’re ready to embark on an unforgettable Vanuatu adventure! Happy packing!
